This year, one company is intent on moulding the game of camera-enabled mobile phones. This manufacturer is Sony Ericsson, and they plan to dominate not just the universe in top-end camera phones
, but low-end handsets, as well!
Camera phones through the ages - the Sony Ericsson legacy
It's rather apt, when you think about it, that Sony Ericsson are the ones at the forefront of the coming paradigm shift in camera-equipped mobile phones. After all, it was them who began it all, way back in 2002. Let's remember, they were the first manufacturer to unveil a mobile phone with a camera in it, within the British marketplace. That mobile was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn't get the mass market penetration Sony Ericsson would've liked, because an amazingly (compared to other mobile phones at the time) top-end smartphone. However, their most iconic handset ever was soon to be unleashed, and that one WOULD get great market penetration. That was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it changed the playing field. Here you had a handset that stood out amongst the crowd of all the rival mobile phones it was up against. It was small, it was sexy, and the country ADORED it. Plus, let's not forget that the Sony Ericsson T610 also had an integrated camera, and that it was really the first mobile to hit the wider market, and make people say, 'Hang on, we really do want mobile phones with cameras in!'
But before we look at the top-end camera phone from Sony Ericsson, let's take a look at another phone with a camera, one that fits very firmly into the smartphone sector: the stunning Sony Ericsson X1.
Sony Ericsson X1 - mixing up the camera with other features
Yep, as you probably know, the Sony Ericsson X1 has a built in camera, although this mobile phone isn't being sold as a cameraphone. No, what this is an all-round smartphone, designed to more or less do and be anything you want it to. The Sony Ericsson X1 is, quite simply, ludicrously powerful, and is easily one of the most powerful and fastest Windows Mobile phones in existence. With HSDPA, GPS, and a 3 megapixel camera, that just makes the Sony Ericsson X1 even more enticing. This really is a mobile phone for those who want the best all-purpose super-phone, and the Sony Ericsson X1 delivers on all fronts. Sure, it could do with a more powerful camera, but what you're getting with the Sony Ericsson X1 is still one of the most powerful mobile phones in existence.
But now, onto the star o0f the show, the camera phone you're all here to see: the Sony Ericsson C905.
Sony Ericsson C905 - the ultimate camera phone?
You just can't deny power, and one thing is for certain: the Sony Ericsson C905 has much more raw power than any other mobile phones you can buy in the UK. And why is that? Well, it's the first camera phone to be unveiled in the UK that has an 8 megapixel camera. Yes, you read that right. 8. That's a frighteningly massive pixel resolution, and it means that with the Sony Ericsson C905, you have the ability to take the absolute most jaw-dropping images you've ever experienced, from any camera-equipped mobile phone, in the history of everything ever. Oh, and on top of that, remember that Sony Ericsson have infused it with Cyber-Shot technology, and that's going to make the photos coming out of it so much more beautiful. Combine that with a brilliant multimedia browser, WiFi, HSDPA and integrated GPS, and the end result is that the Sony Ericsson C905 is, without doubt, the number one! And as for smartphones, well, the Sony Ericsson X1 is the champion, there!
